Inertial Characteristics of a Model
The function
void MassInertiaProperties( const AssemblyMIAttire & assembly,
double deviateAngle,
InertiaProperties & properties,
IfProgressIndicator * progress = 0 )
calculates the surface area, volume, mass, center of mass, and moments of inertia of a model represented as an assembly unit.
The input parameters of the method are:
assembly – an assembly unit that may contain previously computed characteristics
deviateAngle – a parameter that controls the calculation accuracy
The output parameters of the method are:
properties – the calculated inertial characteristics
progress – a calculation progress indicator
The method does not return a value.
The method is declared in the mip_solid_mass_inertia.h file.
The assembly parameter represents an analogue of an assembly unit whose elements are similar assembly units in local coordinate systems and bodies with specified density in local coordinate systems. The elements of the assembly unit may have inertial characteristics and control parameters that were computed earlier. If an element has previously computed characteristics, they will be used in the overall sum, which reduces the total computation time.
The deviateAngle parameter controls the calculation accuracy, and the computation time depends on its value. The deviateAngle parameter defines the maximum allowable angle between normals of adjacent triangles and quadrilaterals of the surface triangulation. The deviateAngle parameter must be within the range 0.01 <= deviateAngle <= 0.35 radians. Note that for complex models, small deviateAngle values require a long computation time.
The properties inertial characteristics are described in subsection Inertial characteristics of a model. The progress parameter provides information on execution during the calculation and can be used to stop the computation.
