C3D B-Shaper
The C3D B-Shaper module converts polygonal models into solid models with boundary representation (B-Rep). As a result of the algorithms execution, a user can edit the resulting model with standard CAD system tools, significantly reducing the complexity and the amount of data.
Application areas of C3D B-Shaper:
Working in CAD and BIM systems with polygonal models from catalogs of ready-made and standard models of parts, building and structure elements.
Recognizing surfaces in polygonal models obtained as a result of 3D scanning or topology optimization in CAE systems.
Mesh smoothing, decimation and compression algorithms in computer graphics.
The unique algorithm of the C3D B-Shaper module splits a polygonal mesh into segments — prototypes of the expected faces. After that, the selected regions can be recognized as elementary surfaces (plane, cylinder, cone, sphere, torus), a surface of revolution or a NURBS surface. Intersection curves are calculated between neighboring segments, and they are then used to construct the edges of the body faces.
Work with the module is carried out via API. Two usage modes are provided: fully automatic and interactive. It should be noted that the automatic shell recognition mode generally is not suitable for models obtained as a result of 3D scanning or topology optimization. This mode is intended for use on polygonal models that are based on some models created in CAD applications.
For license activation of the module, call the EnableMathModules() function with the appropriate parameters.
