C3D PolyShaper
The C3D PolyShaper module is designed for analyzing, healing, and editing polygonal models (meshes), and for converting them to smooth surfaces.
Polygonal representation is a description of geometry by a set of vertices, edges, and planar facets combined into a polyhedral three-dimensional object. Polygonal modeling is used in reverse engineering, topology optimization, engineering simulations, medicine, and preparation of models for 3D printing.
The module is based on a topological representation of a mesh in the form of a doubly linked list of edges, or a Halfedge structure. Logical division of the mesh into parts, or segmentation, is also supported in the form of Halfedge and is essentially an analog of the solid boundary representation. The module can be used via the API. The API includes the MbPolymesh and MbPolymeshTopo classes, which represent a polygonal object, and a set of functions and classes for working with them.
The MbPolymesh object can be constructed manually, obtained from the MbMesh object, or from the MbSolid object by linearization. The MbPolymesh object can also be converted back to the MbMesh object (note that this conversion results in a loss of topological data), which may be necessary if the rendering process uses the MbMesh object. Most of the module functionality is designed to work with MbPolymesh, but some features are also available for MbMesh.
For license activation of the module, call the EnableMathModules() function with the appropriate parameters.
