TWO-DIMENSIONAL CURVES
Two-dimensional curves are used to define surface parameter domains, to construct planar sketches, to build three-dimensional curves on surfaces, curves of surface intersections, and projections of three-dimensional curves onto surfaces and planes of local coordinate systems. Many two-dimensional curves are organized in the same way as three-dimensional curves, with the only difference that two-dimensional points and vectors are used instead of three-dimensional ones. Vectors, position vectors of points, and matrices in a two-dimensional space will be denoted by Latin letters set in bold italic type.
