To Read CAD Data, VR Concept Switches Over Completely to C3D Labs Technology

VR Concept develops virtual prototyping software for collaborative work using 3D models in the fields of manufacturing, architecture, and construction. The VR Concept application downloads CAD/BIM/CAE models to its VR (virtual reality) environment so that users can evaluate the exterior and the ergonomics of product designs. Reading CAD data imported in IGES, JT, Parasolid X_B and X_T, STEP, and C3D formats is provided by the C3D Converter file converter from C3D Labs.

In previous releases of VR Concept, C3D Converter was originally responsible for reading only JT files; reading other CAD formats was performed by different SDKs (software development kits). With the release of the new version of VR Concept, the company completely transitioned to C3D Labs’ technology for reading all CAD formats. The change gives the software a significant increase in the speed of opening files. With the STEP format, for instance, it is now four times faster.

The company is focused entirely on industrial-level virtual reality. VR Concept shows whether collisions would occur, and disassembles and reassembles 3D models interactively. VR Concept can also be used to hold meetings and train personnel. The application is easy-to-use because it does not require programming skills and so enables rapid starts towards virtual reality adoption.

VR Concept has been using C3D Toolkit since April, 2019. Implementing the C3D data exchange module is just the start, as the company plans to deploy more modules from C3D Toolkit. According to Denis Zakharkin, CEO of VR Concept, the C3D geometric kernel will bring VR Concept closer to being able to design and make changes to relatively simple designs directly in the VR environment. At some point in the future, users will, for instance, be able to expand pipe diameters and make holes in virtual reality.

About VR Concept

VR Concept is a software developer of virtual prototyping applications that solve industrial challenges. The company’s flexible 3D/VR engine is the core of the software. By opening CAD data directly and on-the-fly, customers have a fast entry into the realm of collaborative VR/AR.

The company mission is to provide users with easy, fast, convenient VR applications for collaboration with and visualization of CAD models. For more information, please visit https://vrconcept.net/en/
