Moscow, Russia: 9 October 2017 – Eremex, the developer of software for the automated design of electronic devices, updated its Delta Design solution by integrating C3D Toolkit from C3D Labs. Following the signing of the license agreement between C3D Labs and Eremex in May earlier this year, the first result of the cooperation was demonstrated to the public after just four months.
C3D Toolkit is a set of components for creating computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided engineering (CAE), and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) systems to generate control programs for CNC machines, and other engineering software. This solution boasts powerful functions for designing three-dimensional bodies of virtually any shape and complexity.
For PCBs, the generated 3D model takes into account the position of all components, conductors, via-holes, and other objects on the printed circuit board. This allows follow-up analysis, such as in the areas of thermal calculations and electromagnetic compatibility. For example, designers can accurately calculate the bending of sheet material, the parameters of complex joints, and intersections of models.
"At the test stage, C3D Labs developers provided us with active support and so helped us to achieve our desired results in the shortest time possible,” said Sergey Rybkin, Senior Developer at Eremex. “We were able to create 3D models of the printed circuit board, generate component models, and convert those models into all common 3D formats for import to third-party CAD systems.”
Implementing the C3D Toolkit opens up a wide range of new opportunities for CAD vendors. In the case of ECAD, it means designing flex-rigid PCBs, adjusting PCBs to adapt to the size of cases, preparing assembly drawings, and analyzing 3D models for their thermal and electromagnetic characteristics.
“Three-dimensional design is the standard for all modern CAD systems, and electronic CAD is no exception,” said Evgeniy Kornilyev, Deputy CEO for Business Development at Eremex. “Adding the functionality to our product was a logical next-step.”
Today, Delta Design uses C3D Converter for data exchange, C3D Modeler for geometric construction, and C3D Viewer for visualizing printed circuit boards.
"The developers at Eremex did a great job,” said Oleg Zykov, CEO of C3D Labs. “They quickly mastered the functionality of components in the C3D Toolkit, and then integrated them into their product. We still have a lot of ideas for C3D T0olkit, and we will work hard to provide Eremex with everything they need for successful software development.”
About C3D Labs
C3D Labs specializes in the technology-intensive market of PLM components. The company develops and markets C3D Toolkit, used for constructing and editing 3D models. Computer-aided design systems are the most widely known type of software in which C3D Toolkit is typically used. As the software developer’s tool, it is today the only modeling kit that incorporates all four modules critical to CAD: 2D/3D modeling, 2D/3D constraint solving, 3D visualization, and file conversion. In 2013, C3D Labs became a resident of Skolkovo, Russia’s state development office park.
About Eremex
Eremex is a software development company working in the field of automated design of radio electronic devices. Experts and scientists from leading academic and applied engineering schools develop unique software solutions at Eremex. All are professionals with more than 15 years of experience in developing software for PCB automation.
As a result of using a combination of resources and technical expertise, Eremex offers software with a distinctive set of characteristics and capable of using unique algorithms. The company product portfolio includes Topological Router (TopoR) for PCBs, high-performance SimOne suite for circuitry modeling, and FX-RTOS real-time component operating system. Since 2015, Eremex has been developing Delta Design electronic CAD that supports various design standards and the end-to-end design cycle.
"Thanks to C3D Toolkit, Delta Design electronic CAD can now be integrated into a single workflow, where all product components are included in a common model,” said Sergey Pilkin, Deputy CEO of Eremex. “In particular, 3D visualization helps electronic device designers compose PCBs more efficiently, which in turn optimizes product manufacturing and improve maintainability and other operational characteristics.”
