How C3D Modeler Kernel Enhances the Newest Version of Bazis-Center’s Furniture Designer

Bazis-Center develops CAD software for the furniture industry, the BAZIS-System. The company has 17 years of experience by working closely with specialists at furniture production companies. Today, the software is used by 4,000 companies in Russia and internationally.

Their flagship BAZIS-System software handles all stages needed in making cabinet-type furniture – from design through to manufacturing. The software models the products in 3D; processes orders; performs traditional and parametric design; lays out materials; calculates BOMs and generates costing reports; and creates the control programs for CNC machines, which cut the pieces needed to make the furniture.

BAZIS-Furniture Maker is the main module of BAZIS-System. It designs cabinet-style furniture of any complexity. Release 10 delivers significant improvements in calculating the 3D geometry of grooves and bodies, including along closed paths. Users can design curved furniture facades, complete with engravings. The work is done on a flat piece of material, followed by cutting out the pattern and bending the material in the software, and then making the necessary drawings.

In 2012, Bazis-Center was the very first software firm to license the C3D Modeler geometric kernel from C3D Labs. Since then, the company has been regularly upgrading the components to implement the newest features and enhancements into their BAZIS-System.

This year for Release 10 of their software, BAZIS improved the modeling of parts with complex milling. BAZIS applied principles used in bending non-sheet bodies, which is a new feature in the C3D Modeler geometric kernel from C3D Labs. Along with sheet bodies, C3D Modeler now allows the bending of non-sheet bodies – a function that was requested by BAZIS-Center.
